- What were your favorite technologies, tools or activities?
- Blogging, RSS Feeds, del.icio.us, Google Apps
- Has Learning 2.0 @ Mac helped you get comfortable with emerging technologies? How?
- Yes it has helped me getting comfortable with some activities that I did not try in the past such as Wikies
- Were there any take-aways or unexpected outcomes from this programme that surprised you?
- What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept?
- Could have run this program during the summer time when we could spend more time doing the activities.
- (And this is what we really want to know!) If the Emerging Technologies Group offered another discovery programme like this in the future, would you chose to participate?

I am not a big online games fan and didn’t have a lot of time playing online games but I tried Web Sudoku and found it interesting and challanging. I am not sure how gaming can be used in instruction, it is hard for me express my thoughts at this time until I see some real examples.

I installed Firefox and few add-ons (such as LiveClick, del.icio.us buttons etc.) on my PC. I also installed Morris Bookmarklets on my PC. I found bookmarklets very easy and convenient to use. Del.icio.us buttons are also very handy to have - now that I have learned about del.icio.us.

I tried Google Docs and Spreadsheets since I already have an account on Google. I am impressed the way one could do basic word processing and create spreadsheets etc online. I tried several things such as creating text document and export it as an HTML document, open a Word document and convert to Open Office format etc. and all worked without any problems. I can see Google taking over Microsoft’s market share in the future.
I will take a look at other recommended online applications in the near future…

Activity # 1:
I signed up for an account on Facebook. I browsed through the Learning 2.0 @ Mac group but wasn’t able to figure out how to join the group. Facebook is a good social network to connect to people. I was able to find couple of my friends on Facebook - I didn’t know they had an account on Facebook. I will explore more about this social network in the future.
Activity # 2:
I didn’t find MySpace interesting enough to spend more time exploring it any further.

Activity # 1:
I tried searching for SAS related topics on del.icio.us and Google. There were fewer hits in del.icio.us than Google for the topics and the hits in del.icio.us were more relevant to SAS as a software than in Google. It was much easier and faster to browse through the hits from del.icio.us.
Activity # 2:
My del.icio.us account is at http://del.icio.us/vivekjadon
Activity #3:
I liked the architecture clusters at http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/architecture/clusters/
Activity # 4:
I installed 2 buttons on my web browser’s toolbar.

I liked WetPaint better than PBWiki. I found WetPaint easier and more intuitive to use than PBWiki. I have read articles about Wetpaint and you can now add YouTube and Google Video players, Vizu polls, Google Calendars, Photobucket slideshows, Meebo IM widgets, Gabbly chat and RSS feeds to your wiki. Additionally, you can add any widget that uses the “embed” or “iframe” tags. You can also upload attachments like Microsoft Word and Excel files.

This activity was quite simple and fun. It’s great to subscribe to all your favourite feeds and have all the information at one centralized place - no need to visit several websites. I chose GoogleReader because I am comfortable using Google for most of my internet related work such as checking e-mail, using Google Calendar etc. Thanks for introducing me to the GoogleReader.
